You Are On a Desert Island…..
The wonderful world of books offers up hundreds and thousands of different books for our pleasure; but if we were on a desert island, which five books would we take with us to stimulate our minds over and over and keep us company during the long days.
After much deliberation, we opted for the following books for being thought-provoking, entertaining or just plain old comforting and familiar!
- The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien
An ultimate fantasy classic filled with adventure. Bilbo Baggins has proved himself adept when it comes to escaping sticky situations, therefore he might inspire us for escaping ours!
- Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
We really can never get tired of reading about Miss Bennett and Mr Darcy. The story never loses its shine and characters never get dull.
- The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde
The ultimate narcissist never ceases to amaze and the running commentary from our favourite cynic Lord Henry about humanity and society keeps our mind inquisitive and giving it a great workout!
- Hans Christen Andersen’s Fairy Tales
Nobody can ever get tired of ‘Once Upon a Time’ and Hans Christen Andersen did it best with beloved tales like The Little Mermaid, The Ugly Duckling and many others.
- The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams
Pure entertainment, fun and an amazing ride with a true master of science fiction!
